Dear Sir, [Mr. Robertson's brief reply a week later denied what my lawyer says here about my lawyer's phone conversation with him, but did not address any of the concerns which this letter raises.]††† ----->
Re: National Post and Christensen††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††
Further to our telephone conversation on April 10, 2001, I would confirm that I have bean assisting Professor Christensen, as Mr. Porter is currently out of the country.
In our telephone conversation, I understood from you, that your client was not intending to write a further article about the issues contained in the article of March 29, 2001, entitled "Dispute erupts at rights group for fathers", and that in addition, your client was not intending to write about Professor Christensen. Your confirmation would be appreciated.
For three weeks now, Professor Christensen and
leaders of a volunteer organization he works with have undergone severe
emotional stress. The work of the organization has been almost at a standstill.
This has been because of actions reportedly engaged in by the National Postís
employee, Ms. Laframboise, and her associate in
The actions of the associate have included
continued sending messages to people associated with the volunteer
organization, to public officials and to news reporters, that a second article
about the organization, this one to attack Professor Christensen, was about to
be published in the National Post. First, one date for publication was hinted
at, and then another. These messages have resulted in insinuations about Professor
Christensen getting into the media in
You can appreciate the unsettling effect of this kind of thing on all concerned. Professor Christensen is confident that leadership at The Post would not knowingly be party to such behaviour. Feeling a strong need for closure to the unfortunate events of the past three weeks, however, he would very much like contact with some senior official at The Post to clarify such matters.
Our client would greatly appreciate your assistance in this matter.†††††††††††††††††††††† ††††††††††††† [Back]
